Forest Farm Peace Garden - March 2012

This project ran from January 2012 – March 2012

We have been working with Forest Farm Peace Garden in Hainault, East London this year sharing our expertise in how to run environmental workshops and a successful community tree planting event.

Forest Farm Peace Garden is a volunteer-led community initiative working with the local community to promote mental and physical health, social inclusion and environmental sustainability. A total of five local schools got involved in the project and our Schools Coordinator led workshops with the children to plant mixed orchard trees.

We also lent our expertise in the running of a community planting event on 11 March, working with the volunteers on how to manage an event, from the booking of entertainers to following correct health and safety procedures. It has been a great learning experience for all involved and a total of 205 trees have been planted to boot!

“I'm going to give the charity Trees for Cities £25 for every goal West Brom score between now and the end of the season. That won't buy a forest, but it might make a difference.”
