Volunteering

There are many exciting ways you can volunteer for Trees for Cities and nearly all of them involve venturing outdoors and getting your hands dirty. Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to learn more about trees, get practical hands on experience, improve your health and wellbeing, meet new people and have fun.

I found that even a few days’ volunteering here and there soon built up  what I could say about myself in my CV. David - volunteer

We are currently running a very exciting new project – Londoners Love Trees which will create 4,000 volunteer opportunities in growing, planting, surveying and caring for urban trees. The project will see 9,000 new trees planted across 15 London boroughs.  Volunteers will have the opportunity to receive a wide range of training in urban forestry and community tree planting, with accredited options available. The project is delivered in partnership with The Tree Council, The London Tree Officers Association and Barchams Trees and is funded by Team London.

There are a variety of volunteering opportunities for you to get involved with, including: tree planting, urban tree surveying, i-tree surveying, Tree Champions, community engagement, training in arboriculture and horticulture,  Tree Wardens and office based internships.

These opportunities are open to people 18 or over living in London. If you are interested in volunteering please express an interest in one or more of our opportunities on our Londoners Love Trees page. If you have any questions please email our Volunteer Coordinator.

“Trees are a luxury for all of us and we need this luxury for our health, mind and soul. Places become sad when there is no green, no life present. Trees balance our lives. I am happy to support Trees for Cities with all my heart.”
