Londoners Love Trees

If you live in London and you are 18 or over we have an exciting array of volunteer opportunities for you to get involved in as part of our Londoners Love Trees project.

Tree planters – Volunteers will take part in tree planting days across London between November 2011 and March 2012.

Urban Tree Surveyors – Volunteers will help monitor the long-term survival of trees planted by Trees for Cities by measuring specific trees across the capital and reporting on their health status. Training will be provided by Trees for Cities on how to measure a tree and report on its health status. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to receive more in depth training on tree id. This opportunity will take place between September and December.

i-tree Surveyors – Volunteers will be part of the first i-tree survey in London to help value and manage our urban forest through advocacy, data collection and surveying. Training will be provided.  This opportunity should take place between January – May 2012.

Tree  Champions -  60 volunteers will be recruited to take a more active role with Trees for Cities. Volunteers will be involved witth several TfC projects, take part in planting events, attend training to increase their own tree knowledge and work towards AQA unit awards.

Community Engagement – Volunteers are often needed to help us on an ad hoc basis with community consultation and School workshops. This is an ongoing opportunity.

Training in Arboriculture and Horticulture ­– Volunteers will receive training in arboriculture or horticulture and gain invaluable practical experience. Due to overwhelming popularity all the spaces this year are taken. For more information please visit the training section of our website. 

Tree Wardens – Volunteers will be part of a scheme for local people who gather information about their local trees, get involved in local tree matters and encourage local practical projects to do with trees and woods.

Internships – Volunteers will be able to undertake various 3-month internship with either Trees for Cities or The Tree Council and develop office skills in tree-related fundraising, developing projects, marketing and communications, and community engagement. We run internships all year round.
