Children

Education is a vital part of Trees for Cities' tree planting and landscaping projects. Over the years our projects have involved schools all over London and the workshops delivered by the Community and Education team have proven to be a great success.

By inspiring children and young people to share their opinions and ideas we ensure that the local environment works for them. This can be anything from working in partnership with a school to develop and Edible Playground in their school grounds to one-off workshops exploring trees, shrubs and wildlife in local parks.

I liked digging a hole and planting the plant. I have learnt how to use a spade properly, so now I can help my Mum do some gardening. I have enjoyed everything we have learnt and everything we did.  Naima (Year 5 Pupil):

Our landscaping projects have transformed uninspiring concrete playgrounds into exciting vibrant spaces for learning and exploration. Our workshops cover a wide range of topics which link to the National Curriculum and build teacher's capacity to integrate outdoor learning into the school year.

Thank you for everything you did for us. My favourite part was playing the game because it helped with my reading skills. I learnt a lot of things like how to plant a tree and how to take a plant out of the pot. I had a wonderful time. Leony (Year 4 Pupil):

“Trees are a luxury for all of us and we need this luxury for our health, mind and soul. Places become sad when there is no green, no life present. Trees balance our lives. I am happy to support Trees for Cities with all my heart.”
