Birmingham

Trees for Cities is transforming a derelict site in Birmingham into a vibrant, fruitful community orchard.  The site has been selected through Velvet’s Campaign for Trees – with people up and down the country voting for the tree planting project they wanted to see delivered in their local area.

The chosen site – a walled compound on the edge of Whitton Lakes Park, neighbouring the Wyrley Birch housing estate – is currently a dumping area for traffic cones and shopping trolleys, but will be transformed thanks to Velvet and the efforts of local people.

Trees for Cities will be creating a unique photo journal of the site so you can follow its transformation step-by-step.  More details will follow soon.

This project is being delivered in partnership with local charity Forest Schools Birmingham.

Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals to  deliver our projects. Please consider supporting our project  work by making a donation or buying a community gift.

“Trees are a luxury for all of us and we need this luxury for our health, mind and soul. Places become sad when there is no green, no life present. Trees balance our lives. I am happy to support Trees for Cities with all my heart.”
