Carlton Hill Primary School

In March 2008 Trees for Cities made its first mark on Brighton, when we planted over 200 trees at Carlton Hill Primary School.
The entire school, from Reception to Year 6 got their hands dirty, planting a new hedgerow and an exciting mix of Silver Birch, Rowan, Gingko, Locust and Golden Ash trees to provide a habitat for wildlife and creating an outdoor classroom for the whole school to enjoy.
Carlton Hill Primary is situated close to the city centre and is a school which serves the local community. The trees are planted in an area of the school's grounds, which is currently under-used, but the trees will make a huge difference, attracting wildlife and creating an outdoor learning space so vital to inner city schools.
This project is funded by Trees for Cities and is supported by HSBC and first direct as part of their 'Virtual Forest' initiative, which encourages customers to switch from paper to electronic statement.
