Wilmott Park

Following the successful launch of our partnership with Bristol City Council in 2006, we developed a second project in the city, which led to 60 more trees being planted in another of Bristol's urban parks.
In February 2007 we teamed up once again with Bristol City Council to plant a mix of native trees, including English Oak, Scots Pine, False Acacia, Cherry, Walnut and Ash, at St George Park, situated in the east of the city. The new trees have helped replace a number of trees that were removed due to disease and decay. The aim of the project was to ensure a continuation of mature trees in order to retain the park's Victorian splendour and enhance the existing wildlife habitat of the park.
This project was made possible with generous support from HSBC, whose staff volunteered to spend a rather wet and windy day planting the trees! Children from nearby Summerhill Junior School also got stuck in to some planting, as well as taking part in fun environmental games co-ordinated by the Forest of Avon.
Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the St George Park Project. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift.
