Kibera Schools

Kibera is Africa’s largest slum – home to around a million people. The environment of this informal settlement is extremely poor, with much of the site consisting of mounds of refuse.

Trees for Cities is working with primary and secondary schools bordering Kibera to create tree-filled playgrounds for children to enjoy. The trees – which include Elgon and African olive, parasol trees and Cape mahogany – will offer environmental benefits such as shade, clean air and soil stabilisation, and provide a green sanctuary for children living in this environmentally deprived area.

Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the Kibera Schools Project. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation.

You can also support our work in Nairobi by buying a community gift. Or if you’d like to know more about the projects, please contact Millie Brown at millie@treesforcities.org or call 020 7820 4427.

“Trees are a luxury for all of us and we need this luxury for our health, mind and soul. Places become sad when there is no green, no life present. Trees balance our lives. I am happy to support Trees for Cities with all my heart.”
