Ngong Forest

Between 2006 and 2008 we worked with the Green Belt Movement (GBM) to plant 2,500 trees in the Ngong Forest - an important water catchment area for four rivers on the outskirts of Nairobi.

This project is helping to sustain the ‘green lungs’ of Nairobi, as well as helping to address the underlying social, political, and economic causes of environmental degradation at grass roots level in the city by assisting community groups to establish small-scale businesses in the area of sustainable forestry.

Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the Ngong Forest Project. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation.

You can also support our work in Nairobi by buying a community gift. Or if you’d like to know more about the projects, please contact Millie Brown at millie@treesforcities.org or call 020 7820 4427.

“Trees are a luxury for all of us and we need this luxury for our health, mind and soul. Places become sad when there is no green, no life present. Trees balance our lives. I am happy to support Trees for Cities with all my heart.”
