Autism Plus

In December 2009 Trees for Cities linked up with Sheffield City Council and Autism Plus to create a sensory garden and fruiting orchard at the Coleridge Resource Centre in Sheffield - a pioneering day centre for adults with autism, Aspergers syndrome and learning difficulties.
The sensory garden provides a therapeutic space for the 200 people who use the centre, with trees like Magnolia Heaven Scent and Tibetan Cherry engaging users' different senses - while fruit grown in the orchard is being used in the centre's cooking sessions.
Outdoor spaces like these have been shown to be of particular therapeutic benefit for people living with autism, and Trees for Cities is delighted to be have taken part in this innovative project.
Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver our Autism Plus project. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift..
