The West Wickham Oak

The West Wickham Oak

Quercus robur

Notes of Interest

The West Wickham Oak is a prominent, ancient, pollarded tree which could be up to 800 years old. It is thought to mark the boundary of the former estate of Wickham House (now demolished), and each of its massive branches is the size of the trunk of a mature Oak.

Travel

West Wickham British Rail; bus routes 119, 194.

Walking Directions

Leave West Wickham Station by the exit on platform 1. Turn left out of the station into Station Approach, proceeding uphill on the left hand pavement. Turn left at the top of Station Approach into Station Road, crossing straight over Red Lodge Road. At the next crossroads cross over into Wickham Court Road. Take the first right off Wickham Court Road into Woodland Way. The tree is 50 metres up on the left hand side just after and opposite Aberdeen Close. Whilst it is in someone's back garden it is clearly visible from this location.
