Sunray Avenue Estate - Southwark SE24 9PX

This Southwark owned housing estate contains a great mixture of underused green spaces and enthusiastic gardeners! Working with the community Tress for Cities aims to convert amenity grassland to edible spaces including fruiting orchards, herb beds, vegetable patches and semi-mature fruit and nut trees. Photos from our most recent planting event at Sunray can be found below.

A range of community activities and gardening workshops will be designed to inspire residents to use their green skills on the many council owned gardens on the estate. Local schools will also be engaged through the project and will have a chance to learn about sustainable living and growing your own food, which is a fantastic link to the estate's historic past and Britain's Dig For Victory campaign.

This project is supported by The London Borough of Southwark, the City Bridge Trust, Comic Relief, the London Tree and Woodland Grant Scheme and Esmee Fairbairn.

Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the Sunray Estate Project.

Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift.
