Tetherdown Primary School, Haringey
Last summer we celebrated the completion of our Edible Playground project at Tetherdown Primary School in the London Borough of Haringey. Trees for Cities worked with school children, staff and parents to create three new gardens within the school grounds for wildlife, learning and food!
In February we created a woodland garden including habitat areas for minibeasts such as log piles, fruiting and native saplings and shrubs, and an outdoor classroom teaching area. This spring we also added raised beds to create allotment gardens for each year group of students to plant out the seedlings they had been growing. These areas were fringed with fruiting trees and soft fruits such as raspberries. The final garden had a sensory theme and a variety of plants to attract wildlife. We hope to continue to work with the school to help develop the grounds and their new gardening club.
This project is supported by Tetherdown Primary School, the City Bridge Trust and Goldman Sachs.
