Swedenborg Gardens, E1
Woodland habitat is often hard to find in central London, however, Trees for Cities is currently working in partnership with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to create a new woodland in Swedenborg Gardens. The new woodland fits in with the local authorities Biodiversity Action Plan and will serve to create a beautiful recreational area for this community open space.
Local residents will be engaged in the project through user survey events, local schools workshops and volunteer planting events. Around 2,500 whips will be planted including a variety of native species to bring colour, seasonal variation and food and shelter for local wildlife.
This project is supported by The London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the City Bridge Trust, the Swedenborg Society, the London Tree and Woodland Grant Scheme and Esmee Fairbairn.
Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver projects like the Hillingdon Court Park Woodland. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift.
