Greater Manchester

Three school children at Heaton Park planting day

Manchester's famous Poplar trees are sadly being lost to Poplar scab - meaning a new generation of tree planting is urgently needed to maintain and increase the city's tree cover.

Since March 2006 Trees for Cities has been working with Red Rose Forest - Greater Manchester's community forestry organisation - to plant new woodland plots, large specimen trees, hedgerow and community orchards across the city.

We have planted over 5,300 trees to date, and will more than double this number by the end of the planting season.

If you would like further information about Trees for Cities' work in Greater Manchester, then please contact David Blair at david@treesforcities.org or call 020 7820 4427.

Trees for Cities relies on donations from individuals in order to deliver our Manchester projects. Please consider supporting our project work by making a donation or buying a community gift.
