Arboricultural Manager

Salary: Competitive – dependent on relevant experience

Closing date to apply: 9am on Thursday, 20th February 2020

Trees for Cities is an independent charity that engages local people to plant and protect trees in towns and cities worldwide. We are the only charity working internationally to improve lives by planting urban trees. We cultivate lasting change in urban neighbourhoods; revitalising forgotten spaces, creating healthier environments and getting people excited about growing and eating healthy food.

We seek a highly-motivated, confident and experienced senior level Arboriculturalist to join our Projects Team.
This role is central to the Trees for Cities’ core mission to deliver urban tree planting projects and the successful candidate will act as the Charity’s main point of contact on arboricultural matters, providing steer and advice to both internal and external audiences. They would not only be responsible for delivering projects, but would also significantly support, identify, scope out and develop new opportunities, particularly at the programme level.

This will be a far-reaching role that will enable the right person to act as an advocate for the Charity’s goals, and its strategic approach. Reporting to the Projects Director you will be responsible for managing day to day urban tree planting and maintenance programmes which cover street tree programmes, Urban Tree Challenge Fund, promoting Tree Cities of the World, and supporting high-profile urban forest projects.

This is a permanent role for a highly driven, solution-focused, well-connected individual to build upon our strong track record and it is an opportunity for someone to work closely with senior management to achieve this.

We seek someone with strong arboricultural background and proven experience in developing tree planting programmes, good practice in delivering, managing and maintaining environmental projects. They will have a passion for urban trees and healthy cities, together with strong organisational, inter-personal and communication skills.

This is a full-time position based in Kennington, London SE11.
