Looking to make your move into the charity/third sector? (You may already be there). Looking for a broad hands-on marketing role? Enjoy working in a fast-paced results driven environment? Love trees and community engagement? You might be just the person we’re looking for…Trees for Streets - the National Street Tree Sponsorship Scheme – is looking to expand its team after a successful launch year. Now we’re growing and need a talented Social Media & Marketing Executive to help take us this successful project to the next level.

The progressive urban tree charity, Trees for Cities, launched this exciting tech-for-good initiative in 2021, in collaboration with local innovator, Start with Local.

This project is funded by the City Bridge Trust and the government’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund, as well as players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. Trees for Streets is also supported by the Mayor of London.

This is a great opportunity for people wanting to work in the environmental charity space on a tech-for-good project.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who technically understands social media, both earned and paid, and who understands how to use content to communicate with an audience. We’re particularly keen to work with someone who understands how to make social media work at a very local level.

The ideal candidate will need at least 2-5 years’ experience of working in a marketing role, but you don’t necessarily need to have worked in a charity before.

You might be a full-mix marketer with experience of social channel management or a pure social media specialist – what’s important is that you know your way around the key platforms, and are great at creating engaging content.

Being a small, mainly remote team, we need someone who thrives in a highly collaborative environment. You’ll need the versatility to work both independently and with colleagues as each task requires.

If you’re a motivated, creative marketer with excellent copywriting skills who’s brimming with ideas and thrives with a varied workload, we’d love to hear from you!

The role

Your role is to support the Head of Marketing in promoting the scheme to councils, sponsors, residents, community groups, funders and businesses via a range of channels.

You’ll be using a blend of digital and traditional channels to reach both local audiences in the neighbourhoods where we are working, and a wider national audience to raise awareness of our scheme. This is a creative role that requires strong copywriting and editing skills.

This role has a strong focus on social media channel management, but your workload will include a variety of content creation and editing, in addition to keeping our feeds fresh and engaging. You will also have the opportunity to feed into our strategy and play a big part in developing this as the scheme grows.
