Our towns and cities need you!

Today, more than half of the world’s population is living in urban areas, and in the UK, this figure is over 80%. Our towns and cities are already experiencing record-breaking temperatures, flooding, wildlife and biodiversity loss and poor air quality, taking neighbourhoods to the edge of liveability – a trend that will increase further and cause a raft of health and wellbeing impacts for us all.

By joining our campaign today, you will be supporting a 30-year movement of individuals and communities who are enabled and inspired to plant and protect urban trees in our towns and cities. We have already planted an incredible 1.7 million trees, and with your help, we will continue to improve the lives of more urban communities across the UK and around the world as we reach our two-millionth milestone.

Our towns, cities and their inhabitants stand to bear a significant proportion of the impact of climate and ecological emergencies. The time to act is now!

£55,000

is our target for this campaign

As the need for urban trees grows, so do our planting ambitions. If we raise £27,500 in total, this will be matched to £55,000, enabling us to plant thousands of trees in towns and cities across the UK and around the world towards our 2 millionth milestone.

Every £1 will be matched to £2

Urban trees are one of the most effective nature-based solutions we have

Not only do they mitigate climate change through their role as a carbon sink, adapt to climatic shifts like increased temperatures and rainfall, and provide biodiversity and wildlife habitats, but they also look after our physical and mental health.

For three decades, Trees for Cities has transformed urban communities, provided vital knowledge and skills to plant, protect and promote urban trees and played a vital role in pioneering urban environmentalism for today's and future generations.

Through this campaign, we will continue to bring the benefits of urban trees straight to the people who need them the most, cultivating lasting connections between urban communities and the nature around them.

We have already planted 1.7 million trees. With your help, we can reach a new incredible milestone of 2 million trees, transforming more neighbourhoods and improving lives.

Every year thousands of volunteers join together to plant and protect urban trees.

The generosity we have received during our past match-giving campaigns has already helped thousands of people up and down the country, and together, we can still achieve so much more. 88% of our income comes from voluntary sources, and so everything you donate really does help plant trees and makes a huge difference to inner-city communities.

Check out how we are working to create greener, healthier and happier towns and cities across the UK, and around the world!
