BBC Radio 4 Appeal
Trees for Cities plants trees where they’re needed most and we’ve got ambitious plans this planting season. But we need your help.
We’re aiming to raise £80,000 – enough to plant 10,000 new trees, and Sir Michael Palin, long-standing friend of Trees for Cities is calling on you to get involved.
One tree, one single tree can make a difference.
Sir Michael Palin
Double your impact
The first £40,000 of donations to our appeal will be matched thanks to two generous funders.
That means for every £1 you give, Trees for Cities gets £2 at no extra cost to you, and you can help plant double the trees.
Growing an urban oasis
Sir Michael Palin will be sharing the story of St George's Estate in the heart of Tower Hamlets, the most densely populated borough in London.
The only green space for the thousands of people and families living here was once unused and unloved.
Until Trees for Cities took action in 2013.
We talk to each other now, we’re friendly. We didn’t even say hello to each other before, we just walked by.
Lindsay, resident
To find out more tune in to BBC Radio 4 from Sunday 30th November and hear Sir Michael Palin tell this story of hope.
Or donate today to help plant urban trees this winter.
Planting hope this winter
Unlike the residents of St George's Estate, millions living in towns and cities across the UK are missing out on the benefits that trees and nature bring.
With extreme weather, heatwaves and local flooding on the rise, we've never needed urban trees more.
It costs just £8 to plant a sapling.
Its planting season right now and your gift will help get trees in the ground this winter and plant hope for the future.
Thank you
We'd like to thank all our supporters for helping to grow greener, leafier towns and cities.
We're also grateful to RBC Europe and an anonymous supporter for match funding our BBC Radio 4 Appeal. With their support, every £1 you give is worth £2 to us, at no extra cost to you. That's double the trees.
