Urban tree festival

Trees for Cities is proud to support the Urban Tree Festival 2021, running from 15th - 23rd May to celebrate and promote urban trees!

The festival will celebrate our urban trees through art, literature, theatre, online talks, webinars, workshops, tree walks, music, well-being and children’s activities. Events are taking place in London and beyond, many of which are free and online so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your home.

Video competition

This year, we are looking for enthusiastic young people (any age up to 25) to share their passion for urban trees.

To take part, create a 1 minute video next to your favourite urban tree in your town or city.

In the video, tell us...

  • Your first name.
  • What town or city you are in and what country.
  • Why this tree is your favourite urban tree.
  • What is special about your tree? You can talk about species facts, the wildlife it supports, community stories or your own personal memories about the tree.
  • Why do you think young people should care about urban trees?
  • If you know your town or city is a 'Tree City of the World' (or if you think it should be).

Selected videos will be shared on the Urban Tree Festival’s social media platforms throughout 15th – 23rd May 2021 to celebrate and promote urban trees!

Prizes will be given to the most inspiring videos, including a choice of books and tree themed gadgets.

To submit your entry, please download the 'Video Submission Form' below, fill it in and send it with your video to jess@treesforcities.org

The closing date for submissions is Friday 14th May 2021.

However if you miss the closing date, please still do send us your video. We would still love to receive it and will try to share it throughout the festival and beyond :)

Do you live in a 'Tree City of the World'?

The Tree Cities of the World programme, led by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Arbor Day Foundation, is an initiative to recognise cities and towns across all continents that meet core standards for the care and planning of urban trees and forests.
